I see the message you meant for it to be, and it works well that way.. but when I first looked at it I saw the reverse. Not that the bird had ahold of her and she was trying not to get taken away, but that the bird was trying to fly away and she had ahold of it, trying to keep it down. Either way, I love this piece, so ironically serene and thought-provoking.
Me too. In my understanding on the piece I imagined she was pregnant and the bird as being a stork (bird that carries the babies like in Dumbo for example) and that she was about to miscarriage and was not ready to let it go.
